Every day is a new adventure, and though this blog won't capture it all at least you might get a glimpse of our crazy life...

Quotes

A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for

Babies are a link between angels and man.

Children are a handful sometimes, A heartfull all the time.

Loving a baby is a circular business, a kind of feedback loop. The more you give the more you get and the more you get the more you feel like giving.
Penelope Leach

While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about.
Angela Schwindt

Boy, n.: a noise with dirt on it.
Not your average dictionary

Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.
John W. Whitehead

You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back.

Tis' the season!

I Love The Holidays!!! This is my favorite time of year. I have soo many good memories from past winters. Even memories of being little and spending time with all of my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. It has always been my favorite time of year. I met my husband (Derek) in December of 2004 and we got engaged on Christmas Eve of 2006. Then around Christmas of 2007 is when we found out we were pregnant with peyton and we found out we were pregnant with Jax in December of 2009. When I think of Christmas i think of warmth, which is funny because it's one of the coldest months of the year. It must be the fires, the hot chocolate, the cinamon, the tree, and just the kindness and love that should really be around all year long. This is our first Christmas in our home and our first Christmas with Jax! One thing that excites me as a parent is being able to start our own family traditions. I feel soo old when I think about this. I want my children to have such a memorable childhood. It's soo precious to be able to relive all the excitement of Santa and Frosty and all that good stuff through my children and to add in a little bit of my own. The other night I told Petyon that the reason people put lights up at Christmas is to help Santa see better when he's flying Christmas Eve. I have never heard this before and don't know where it came from. Who knows it might be the real symbolism of it, but it made complete sense to me so I just went with it. Anyways, the whole reason of this post is to show what we've been up to for Christmas so far...

Peyton helping daddy with the train!
Kinda ironic because daddy puts trains together for a living...

Watching the train... look closely you can see the

candy cane in Peyton's hand that she stole from the tree...

And our stockings with our dinky little nativity set...

It's the first Christmas decoration we bought together years back!

My Son

For some reason when I pictured having Jax I figured he would be just like Peyton. I was soo wrong. He definately has his own personality. He's a mommy's boy, which I love. He loves to eat. At his 4 month apointment the other day he weighed over 17.5lbs and was in the 90th percentile of babies his age. We just started feeding him gerber vegetables. So far sweet potatoes are his favorite. He's an excellent sleeper and sleeps through the night on most nights. He loves watching his sister play and tries soo hard to get up and go with her. He already shows jealousy when she's playing with his things. He freaks out if he hears us having any kind of fun without him. He's pretty close to sitting up alone and is soo much more mobile than Peyton was at 4 months. He gets soo concerned if anyone is crying. He likes to get a good grip on your hair and yank. You can tell he thinks it's pretty funny. He stops crying everytime I start to sing Twinkle twinkle little star, but no other song has that effect. I swear both my kids think I have this amazing voice when in reality singing is definately not one of my talents. He LOVES taking baths and would probably go all day in nothing but a diaper if I let him. I think it's easier for him to move, but whatever it is he seems to love being without clothes. His voice strains when he gets too excited and he has the cutest little laugh. When he wakes up in the morning he just starts talking then when I go to get him he is all smiles. He loves laying with daddy watching "manly shows" on tv.

He takes just a little while to warm up to people, but once he does it's totally worth it. God has blessed me soo much with the two most beautiful children. I used to tell Derek I didn't care how many children we had as long as we had at least one girl and one boy. I was blessed with that right off the bat. I am very lucky to be at home with them right now, be able to see them grow and be a big part of teaching them. I would do anything for them and I will love them always.

My Daughter

Peyton is such an amazing person and she is only 2 years old! She is definately a go-er from the moment she gets up until she falls asleep again. She is such a sweetheart! She loves her cartoons, especially Dora. Her favorite color changes by the day. Her favorite song right now is 'old mcdonald had a farm' and he always has a duck for some reason. She hates dressing up in anything "frilly" because it's "too scary". She hates getting dirty or sticky. She loves her daddy and I and when she tells us she says it with the sweetest little smile on her face while squinting her eyes and somehow she knows exactly when we need to hear it. She thinks the swingset in our backyard is a park. She's a very picky eater. She hates anything with red sauce, yet she could eat a whole tomato by herself and has on numerous occasions then asks for more. She can almost count to 20 in spanish. She's fine when we leave her with her aunts or grandparents, sometimes I feel like she doesn't want to come home. She still loves pajamas that have the feet on them. She knows how to work a cell phone better than I do and actually changed my facebook status the other day to a bunch of jibberish. She loves to show you that she can do things by herself, like putting her shoes on or taking her clothes off. She hates getting out of the bath. She doesn't like bows, headbands or hats on her head and you have to bribe her to keep them on, sometimes even that doesn't work. She is soo happy and cute first thing in the morning, but steer clear from her for about the first half hour after her nap. She says the most random things that will make you burst out laughing. She'd choose fruit over candy, but if you asked her what she wanted for breakfast she'd tell you "cheesy chips" or "spongebob soup" even though she never gets that in the morning. She has a pretty good memory and is very thoughtful. I didn't know having a daughter would be like this. She has her bad momments, but she overfills this hole in me that I didn't know I had and I could never imagine my life without her. Laughter fills our home everyday because of her and I love it!

The Begining

Obviously this isn't the begining of it all, just of my blog. I've been wanting to start one for a while now, but have been sidetracked everytime I've gone to do so. In this blog I plan to share just a small chunk of events that are going on in my life and things that are special to me. I will, no doubt be open and share most of my true thoughts and feelings which I have to warn you may get cheesy at times. This will be a blog about family as it is the most important thing in my life. My kids are soo amazing and I come to know this more and more every day. Hopefully I will stay on top of updating it, but if I know me there may be times nothing will be posted for weeks. Who knows if anyone will even follow this and if thats the case that's ok with me. I'm doing this for myself.
