Our Family

Welcome to my blog!

Every day is a new adventure, and though this blog won't capture it all at least you might get a glimpse of our crazy life...

Quotes

A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for

Babies are a link between angels and man.

Children are a handful sometimes, A heartfull all the time.

Loving a baby is a circular business, a kind of feedback loop. The more you give the more you get and the more you get the more you feel like giving.
Penelope Leach

While we try to teach our children all about life, Our children teach us what life is all about.
Angela Schwindt

Boy, n.: a noise with dirt on it.

Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.
John W. Whitehead

You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back.

Peyton

Peyton and I picked up a song from a commercial on Nickjr. that teaches kids to wash their hands so we started singing it every time we washed. Here it is:

Top and bottom, top and bottom
In between, in between
rub them both together, rub them both together
their all clean, squeaky clean!

It caught on quick with her and it's now something fun that she loves to sing EVERY time she washes her hands. Just recently we were at Derek's Aunts house with the family and she was singing the song for them, but when the song was over she mumbled something at the end and we couldn't figure it out until we made her sing the song about 4 more times and every time she would mumble the same thing at the end. Finally we realized that she was saying, "This Nickjr. nugget is brought to you by Lysol" lol apparently she thought it was part of the song. She's soo funny! I love her! Moments like these I wish I could remember forever, but there are soo many funny things that she does that it's hard to remember everything. Even things from when she was younger that I never wanted to forget are starting to fade in my mind. So I'm going to list a few in this post because I eventually want to print my blog into a book since it really is the only record that I've been keeping of our family. So here it is. The list of some of the things Peyton did that I don't want to forget:

*Her scrunchy face that she would make to ruin any picture
*Her pulling out all the DVDs and stringing them across the living room in our apartment EVERY day!
*the soothie pacifiers (green and pink) that we kept buying and then five of them would turn up all at once in the most random places
*Her bald head and how long it took her to get hair. I wasn't able to put it up in a pony until she was at least 2 and a half
*the way my heart would break as I shut the front door to go to work and I could hear her crying inside, but also the way it felt coming home and seeing that big smile as I walked in the door
*the finger! Her pointer, to be exact, that she would use to point at everything all the time
*the way she would shut the door in my face when I dropped her off at audge's
*how it took her forever to learn how to sit up/crawl/walk and do any other new physical thing
*how smart she was even as a baby and could memorize all her body parts before she was one
*putting laundry away in my bedroom and hearing her picking up speed while running down the hallway in our apartment because there was a slope in the floor
*feeding the ducks on the back patio of our apartment and naming them "Willard and Willamina"
*how when she started to crawl she kept disappearing and then we would find her in our bedroom playing with the blinds
*her first trip to the ocean and how she didn't like the sand
*how she never liked being dirty or messy
*how she was always a people watcher
*her fear of the vacuum

There is soo much more, but those were the things I really don't want to forget. It's kind of sad because she is almost 3, but it's also exciting because this list of things is short compared to the list I will be able to make in a few years. Even though it is sad that she's over the baby stage and even almost out of the toddler stage where she will then be a kid I know that there are soo many more memories to make. I know that there's soo many things that she is going to surprise me with and make me laugh about. I guess it's all a part of getting older. She is turning into such a beautiful little girl and an awesome big sister. Right now I'm going through all these fun stages with Jax and it's so cool to compare him to how Peyton was at his age. I suppose that's probably what inspired this whole post and looking back on my posts I realize how much time I spend blogging about how fast time is flying and the past when I probably should be focusing more on being excited about the future. I promise to attempt that in the future! :)
